Happiness is knowing that Hashem is taking care of me – even when I feel most vulnerable to the
forces of the world. Nothing can go wrong; Hashem is with me. I know everything will be the way
Hashem wants. And what could be better than that?

The Purim story, which occurred in the month of Adar, is unique among other Yomim Tovim in that no
open miracles occurred. There was no splitting of the sea or oil burning eight days. Something even
greater occurred – we were able to see Hashem even without the miracles. By the end of the story, it
was clear that all the events had been carefully orchestrated by Hashem – that all along He had been
there taking care of us and bringing us back to Him.

When an open miracle occurs, we get a sense of Hashem’s spectacular power. But when the
excitement fades, we are left with little to carry us from day to day – and little to make us happy. But
when we are given that glimpse that Hashem is always with us, we can always be happy. Life may
not always be easy or the way we’d like it to be, but it is always with Hashem. And with Hashem,
nothing can go wrong.

“Let’s be happy not because everything is good but because we can see the good in

everything”

“Courage does not always roar, sometimes courage is the quiet voice saying, I will try

again tomorrow”

“Giving up your goal because of one setback is like slashing your other three tires

because you have a flat”
